Waturta people of northern Goldfields win native title recognition in Federal Court
The Waturta people of northern Goldfields received native title rights for over 17,500 square kilometers in Laverton from the Federal Court of Australia last Friday. Kado Muir, who began the claim 32 years ago, called the determination a “momentous” achievement for his generation. This ruling allows the Waturta people to formally participate in decisions regarding their land and waters.
