‘Our controls were not good enough’: Telstra’s outage admission
Telstra admitted Friday its network outage could have been prevented with a software update and better controls, in a Senate inquiry submission. A GPS card in a Melbourne timing server reset to 2006 during maintenance July 7-8, spreading faulty dates through the network and knocking customers offline.
