A Griffith University study of 287 women found night owls consume similar daily calories to early risers but eat more high-fat, high-sugar foods after 8pm. Night owls showed higher body fat percentages, blood sugar levels and lipids. Researchers say eating late when the body should fast causes energy storage rather than use, increasing obesity.
