Government questioned over cost blowout for proposed weirs
Queensland opposition lawmakers questioned cost overruns for two proposed weirs Friday during budget estimates. Shadow Water Minister Nikki Boyd said the Cooranga Weir ballooned to $259 million from an original $120 million budget, while Barlil Weir reached $113 million. Sunwater's interim chief executive David Hourigan said final cost estimates would be available in August.
