Franco Baresi obituary
Franco Baresi, the AC Milan captain who embodied Italian defensive excellence, died aged 66 after a period of ill health. The centre-back captained Milan for 15 of his 20 seasons, winning two European Cups and six Serie A titles. He also reached the 1994 World Cup final with Italy and finished runner-up for the 1989 Ballon d'Or.
