Federal government rejects $42 million grant for northern NSW rail trail gap

The Australian federal government rejected a A$42 million grant request from three northern New South Wales councils in June to complete a 54-kilometer missing link in a 135-kilometer rail trail. The trail, stretching from canefields through Byron Bay to rolling hinterland, currently exists in two disconnected sections.
