Brisbane man fined $9m over illegal poker platform
A Brisbane man, Rhys Edward Jones, was fined $9 million for operating an illegal online poker platform from October 2020 to March 2021. He handled nearly $7.3 million in transactions through Brisbane Poker Pty Ltd and made about $4.2 million in profit. The court also fined Brenton Lee Buttigieg $240,000 for promoting the platform on Facebook.
