Brisbane rate rise confirmed in council budget
Brisbane's Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner confirmed a 3.97 percent rate increase on Wednesday, ahead of the 2026-27 budget. This rise is $400 below the average in surrounding areas and is the first time in nearly ten years that the city has not borrowed money. Over 90 percent of spending will focus on Brisbane suburbs.
