‘New normal’: Migration levels dip but remain higher than pre-COVID years
Migration to Australia decreased to 301,000 new arrivals over the past year, down 29,500 from the previous year, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics data. Despite the decline, current levels remain above pre-COVID averages of 230,000. The Albanese government views the drop as evidence of effective management amid calls for immigration reform from One Nation leader Pauline Hanson.
